Human Resource Management Certificate

Human Resource management is a valuable asset to any company as they are strategic business partners providing support across the organization.  This certificate program is designed to provide the fundamental skills and understanding of HR from human relations to human strategy that can immediately be applied in the work place. The course covers things such as but not limited to HR management and strategy development, staffing and talent development, compensation and benefits, labor relations, leadership and organizational behavior. By the end of the program, you will have the skills necessary to develop and implement successful HR practices that will help your organization improve its performance through better overall people management.

Objectives

• Develop an understanding and demonstrate the principles of management including planning, organizing, leading, staffing, and controlling, and skills to manage, lead, and motivate groups and/or teams of a diverse workforce that are aligned with social responsibilities through the use of the principles of management

• Define leadership, identify leadership traits, judge, assess and/or appraise good leaders and bad leaders, and decipher which leaders exhibit those qualities and apply examples of good leadership to personal experiences.

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of human resource management and how it relates to the management process, discuss how management action help avoid employment discrimination lawsuits, demonstrate understand of strategic human resource management tools, explain job analysis and how it is used, identify steps in recruitment and selection process, summarize, propose, and process employee orientations, identify factors that determine pay rates, define typical employee services, benefits and challenges to implementation and discuss performance appraisal standards and related problems. 

• Define organizational behavior, workforce diversity and describe it implication for organizations, explain job design and distinguish between the job design techniques of job enlargement, enrichment, and rotation; discuss job satisfaction, and how it can be measured, and key factors influencing perception.

• Identify critical events that were significant in the historical development of the American labor movement, and various key provisions of American labor law, discuss how unions are officially organized, and various dispute resolution processes, with particular attention to mediation and arbitration, identify and discuss key bargaining strategies used by both labor and management.

• Manage your own time and the time of others.

• Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

• Motivate, develop and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job

• You want to develop foundational knowledge of HR for entry-level positions

• You have an associate, bachelor’s or college credits in business and/or in another field and you are looking to move into HR

• Your current career would benefit from upgrading HR knowledge
