The certificate for Surveying prepares the student for a variety of opportunities in the surveying industry. The School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathmatics (STEM) has packaged the courses listed below to provide the educational background needed for a successful career in surveying and related fields. The Surveying certificate will provide the student with a basic understanding of surveying technologies, as well as provide an educational background on the legal requirements of boundary surveying. Students who are completing the Associate of Science in Civil Engineering Technology at Bluefield State University will gain additional surveying courses needed to satisfy the 30 hours of surveying related coursework to meet the West Virginia educational requirements for licensure as a Professional Surveyor. The objectives within the certificate curriculum may include, but are not limited to:

• Perform topographic surveys and volumetric calculations
