Multi-Categorical Special Education with Autism (K-6, 5-Adult)

The Bachelor of Science in Multi-Categorical Special Education with Autism (K-6, 5-Adult) a The educator preparation program seeks to contribute to meeting the nation’s projected need for special education teachers. The program courses will equip candidates with the skills to design individualized, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive instruction that meets the diverse needs of exceptional learners. Program courses will ensure that candidates know how to use data-driven assessments to inform instruction, implement evidence-based practices, and integrate behavioral and social-emotional supports to create inclusive and supportive learning environments while also developing strong collaboration skills to work effectively with families, educators, and community organizations thus ensuring equitable access to education and successful transitions for students with exceptionalities. This program will lead to certification through the West Virginia Department of Education in Multi-Categorical Special Education with Autism (K-6, 5-Adult).
