School of Business

The W. Paul Cole Jr. College of Business at Bluefield State University offers a comprehensive suite of undergraduate and graduate programs designed to prepare students for successful careers in business and related fields. Degree offerings include the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management, Regents Bachelor of Arts, and the Master of Business Administration (MBA).


Undergraduate students may choose from six majors and nine minors, allowing for focused study in areas aligned with their career goals and interests. These programs emphasize both theoretical foundations and practical applications, ensuring graduates are well prepared for immediate employment or advanced study in fields such as business administration, accountancy, and health services management. As part of the business administration degree program, students are required to choose both a major and a minor from those offered within the College of Business. This academic structure is intended to fulfill credit hour requirements while providing complementary minors that enhance the student’s primary field of study.


The College is housed in a modern, technology-enhanced facility featuring fully electronic classrooms. Faculty utilize lecture capture technology, enabling students to review recorded sessions. 
All courses are managed through the university’s online learning management system (Moodle), supporting a flexible and interactive learning environment, and accessibility reflects the College’s dedication to continuous improvement and student success.

The W. Paul Cole, Jr. College of Business takes tremendous pride in the fact that its baccalaureate Business Administration program is accredited nationally by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), the premier accrediting agency for business schools focused on teaching excellence. The W. Paul Cole, Jr. College of Business was the third business school in West Virginia to receive national accreditation, following West Virginia University and Marshall University. The College is fully committed to maintaining a culture focused on continuous improvement and has established systematic processes for identifying opportunities for improving teaching, curricula and business processes. The following baccalaureate degree program, Business Administration, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), demonstrating a commitment to teaching excellence and continuous improvement.

 

Note:  All students majoring in Business Administration are required to take a major field test prior to graduating.
