The Bluefield State Symphonic Band, known as the “Blue Suede Band” is the largest and most noted performance ensemble on campus. The band performs for all formal BSU events, the convocation and various events around the university and the Bluefield community. The ensembles consist of music minors as well as students majoring in various disciplines throughout the University. This 1 credit course allows for students to prepare for the performances and master the identified learning outcomes.

The University Symphonic Band performs a wide range of original band compositions, various arrangements of popular tunes, historic Marches, and chorales, all in which represents different musical styles, and periods.
