President’s Welcome

It is truly a privilege to welcome you to Bluefield State College.  Here, you will be greeted by an outstanding, dedicated faculty and staff who will support you in the pursuit of your professional and personal goals.

You will select from a range of dynamic programs in Bluefield State’s Schools of Arts & Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering Technology & Computer Science, and Nursing and Allied Health.  Our on-campus degree programs are augmented by several online options that enhance the flexibility and accessibility of your educational endeavors.

You will be a vital participant in the exciting era into which the College has entered.  After an absence of more than 50 years, student housing is returning to the Bluefield State campus with the scheduled 2020 Fall Semester opening of Heritage Village.  Our student robotics team is preparing to seek another world championship, and our Nursing programs have recently celebrated landmark anniversaries (Associate Degree-50 years, Baccalaureate Degree-30 years).  BSC students and faculty are conducting world class research, and student teams from each School are excelling in the classroom, in academic competitions, and in volunteer initiatives throughout the campus and community.

Bluefield State College offers a comprehensive college experience with more than 30 campus organizations, along with a robust selection of student activities, support services, volunteer initiatives, and ten intercollegiate sports programs.  Your success IS our top priority.

In 2020, Bluefield State will celebrate the 125th anniversary of its founding.  The College’s core values of excellence, community, diversity, and growth have served BSC faithfully since the College’s opening in 1895.  Here you will learn in a setting that is both exciting and challenging.  You will also receive support, encouragement, and direction that will strengthen your ability to do great things.  You will graduate as a leader who is prepared to make a positive difference in the region and the world!
